A graduate of the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland, he also pursued an interest in Philosophy at the University of Madrid, as well as cultivating knowledge in the History of Art and Literature at the Dante Alighieri School in Rome. As a custodian of Thai culture Kurt is an active participant in the country’s cultural growth, and has demonstrated the importance to educate Thai youth in the hotel industry. One of the projects that arose from this desire was the launch of The Oriental Hotel Apprenticeship Program (OHAP) in October 1990.
Inspired by the public response of the previous venture, Kurt created The Oriental Professional Thai Chef Program (OPTC) as a response to the growing fascination and worldwide interest for Thai cuisine. It is a three-month course that produces professional “Oriental Thai Cooks and Future Cooks” with the aim to secure individuals with positions overseas in the culinary arena, ultimately cementing their roles as ambassadors of Thai cuisine to the international community.
Recognized worldwide as a key individual in the business world, Kurt was awarded Thailand’s Royal Decoration of Fourth Class (Companion) of the Most-Exalted Order of the White Elephant. He received further recognition by being granted the Order of Merit, presented to him by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany 1987.
