Biographie

Jorge Gonzalez joined Mandarin Oriental, Miami as General Manager in 1999 and performed an integral role in the pre-opening period. He is responsible for the executive management and operations for the 326-room waterfront hotel situated on Brickell Key, which opened on November 20, 2000. Mr. Gonzalez became Executive Vice President of the US Southern Region in May 2008, and is now also responsible for overseeing the hotels on the South East Coast of the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Mr. Gonzalez is a veteran of the hotel industry with 33 years of experience. Prior to joining Mandarin Oriental, Miami, Mr. Gonzalez served as Managing Director for The Loews Miami Beach Hotel, where he was in charge of the successful opening of the hotel. He also held executive management positions at Ritz Carlton Hotels in Cancun, Mexico and Naples, Florida and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts throughout the United States.

He is an active member of several industry related organizations such as the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, serving as chair of the marketing committee, and is chair elect of the Greater Miami and The Beaches Hotel Association. He is also a member of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center Young President’s Club and Voices for Children fundraising event.

A native of Mexico, Mr. Gonzalez studied architecture at the University of Mexico.
